CHRIS CORNELL 'Really Happy' With SANTANA Collaboration

September 22, 2010

The Pulse of Radio reports: In stores now is the new SANTANA album, titled "Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics Of All Time". Arriving on Tuesday (September 21),the album features guitar legend Carlos Santana teaming with a slew of guest vocalists for a collection of classic rock covers. Among the highlights of the set is SOUNDGARDEN singer Chris Cornell's take on LED ZEPPELIN's "Whole Lotta Love". Cornell gave The Pulse of Radio his thoughts on the track: "My only concern was, it's 'Whole Lotta Love', so God, you know, like...and it's really great. I'm like really happy about it. Carlos plays great on it and his guitar sounds are great on it. It doesn't sound like a modern retake necessarily, you know, there's like some good, sort of dirty rock guitar sounds on it and obviously he plays great on it. But it was just a fun thing to do."

Other vocalists on the album include STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland doing THE ROLLING STONES' "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'", LINKIN PARK's Chester Bennington covering THE DOORS' "Riders On The Storm", Jacoby Shaddix of PAPA ROACH doing DEEP PURPLE's "Smoke On The Water", Gavin Rossdale of BUSH singing T. REX's "Bang A Gong" and more.

Cornell and the recently reunited SOUNDGARDEN will release their own retrospective set, "Telephantasm", on September 28 and have issued the previously unreleased "Black Rain" as a single.
